I support No One Turned Away because I currently work with single homeless young people and adults with mental ill health and learning difficulties. I know from my work that our waiting lists for people in urgent need of a roof over their head are getting longer. I know too that those who do not meet our criteria have nowhere else to go. South Suffolk is a largely rural area and I fear there is some denial in villages for example that we have a problem. The reality is that those made homeless in a small village may gravitate to the nearest town, where there may be a 'homeless community' for example. I know homelessness has increased in South Suffolk yet I am not seeing it being debated nor of course any increase in investment. Schemes like the one I work with are seeing huge funding cuts, as are agencies who traditionally may have provided specialist support - social workers, mental health staff, probation workers. We are letting down people who desperately need help and support. I applaud your campaign.
