Congratulations to Sue Monks for her energetic campaign in Hadleigh. Unfortunately the Liberals gained the seat in an area with a history of Liberal councillors. We nearly pushed the Tories into third and we increased our share of the vote by 6% compared with 2013 when the National party was leading the polls with a 40% share and the Lib Dems were very unpopular.
Lisa Gordon (Green) - 70 (4%)
Kathryn Grandon (Conservative) - 460 (26%)
Stephen Laing (UKIP) - 204 (11%)
Susan Monks (Labour) - 397 (22%)
Trevor Sheldrick (Lib Dems)- 642 (36%)
The share of vote compared to the 2013 election is a follows:
Lib Dems (+12%)
A message from Sue Monks (Candidate)
I just wanted to say a personal thank you to all those who helped in any way during the recent SCC elections. It was hard work but also good fun and we demonstrated by our combined efforts what we can achieve. Labour is certainly active in South Suffolk, we received lots of support on the door step. It is up to us now to ensure we keep the pressure on. Onwards and upwards.
With best wishes
